About "Poems of Love" and the author, Vernon Roberts

"Poems of Love" were written by Vernon Roberts in 1951 to his wife, Dorothy, who could not be with him at the time, because he was in military school at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Hence, the theme of the poetry was the longing in his heart to see the wife he dearly loved again soon. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict..

Several years later, he went on to become a God-called Baptist minister. He was truly a Bible scholar in every sense of the word and a gifted poet. He was a gentle, humble man who loved God and cared deeply for souls. God took him to be with Him in Heaven on June 15, 1998 at the age of 71.

Though Vernon Roberts will be greatly missed by those who loved him, God provided that he was able to leave two extraordinary collections of poetry for those he left behind. The "Poems of Love" collection demonstrates Vernon Roberts' love for the wife God gave him, and the "Freely Received Freely Given" collection demonstrates his great love for God, who in mercy saved his soul as a young boy and guided him throughout his life on earth.

Please enjoy the poetry on the "Poems of Love" web site and also visit the "Freely Received Freely Given" site. May you receive a spiritual blessing from God from the reading of Vernon Roberts' poetry.

Thank you for visiting, June Thompson

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
I Thessalonians 4:13-14

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
