     He Trusted In The Lord  
       

    As perception fathoms the mists of the past,  
    With time and distance spanned;  
    It engages a scene of valor and might,  
    In the far off promised land.  

    A Philistine troop has gathered  
    To take a piece of ground;  
    The men of Israel flee before  
    Their fearful sight and sound.  

    One of King David's mighty men,  
    With all his companions gone;  
    In the midst of the field, to face the foe,  
    Is standing all alone.  

    Does he not know that death draws near?  
    Why does he not turn and flee?  
    But in his eyes I see no fear,  
    And his hand's steady as can be.  

    He meets the foe; his ancient sword  
    He wields with all his might.  
    And the sinners' yell, as they plunge to hell,  
    Sets an anthem to the fight.  

     He's tired: He's oh so weary now.  
     By what means does his strength abide?  
     For somehow his sword continues to flash,  
     And Philistines fall at his side.  

    He's held the ground with strength, I see,  
    Of more than man and sword.  
    The victory there was wrought by God;  
    For he trusted in the Lord.  

    So, man of God, be not dismayed,  
    However hard the fight.  
    Take God's Word, the Spirit's sword,  
    And wield it with your might.
